Freebies Carnival
Industry
Business Idea Overview
Tryvertising according to www.trendwatching.com ,is a new breed of product placement in the real world, integrating your goods and services into daily life in a relevant way, so that consumers can make up their minds based on their experience, not your messages. Essentially, it means letting users to try the products or services before purchase.
Free love as described in www.trendwatching.com, is the ongoing rise of free goods and services that are available to consumers online and offline.
The proposed marketing and research company will be based on the above two main ideas, tryvertising and free love.
The main marketing and research activities include:
1. Bi-Monthly Freebies Carnival
The Freebies carnival will attract visitors with the intention of getting free items. These free items are either subsidized by advertising or free samples given by companies promoting their products. Stalls in the carnival can be rented out for F&B and other business activities.
2. Freebies website
The freebies website will help companies gather consumer data through web surveys. Upon completion of web surveys, consumers can collect a pack of freebies from a designated location or have the freebies mailed to them. In additional, the website will keep members updated with freebies news around the country.
3. Free notepaper or free notepad for college students or man on the street
Free note-taking papers can be distributed to students in the college. These notepapers will have the same type of horizontal advertisements on the top it similar to those on websites. The advertisements will have a longer visible duration than most flyers or brochures. Distributing ad-sponsored notepapers to man-on-the-street may be viable as well. They are less likely to throw away useable notepapers than flyers. Check out the implementation of this idea on: www.freehandads.com
Another alternative is to give out paper notebook. The notebook can be cobranded with colleges and universities. Subject dividers in each notebook will consist of full-page advertisements. Students will naturally carry these notebooks throughout the day. Check out the implementation of this idea on: www.absnotebooks.com
4. System to capture consumer data when giving off free samples
Instead of giving off free samples to anyone, consumers need to reciprocate by providing information and feedback that are useful for market research to companies giving off free items. An example will be a free tissue pack dispenser supported by advertising that allow registered consumer to get the free item by swiping an electronic card. The electronic card will provide the consumer information and additionally, a one-question survey may be use to capture feedback.

Tryvertising seems interesting. But are Singaporean retailers ready to accept this new game?
Thanks for the comment. Some
Thanks for the comment.
Some of the product in Singapore have started to give out samples to public to try it first before buying, especially in Supermarket where food and beverages are concern. I think nowadays people prefer to get free stuff and if the stuff is good, they will buy it definetely :)
