Grocery Delivery
The idea has been tried in a couple of ways, frequent deliveries of smaller amounts and weekly/monthly deliveries of more traditional grocery loads. The latter would be more feasible. Get customers on a regularly scheduled delivery time and have them submit their grocery list weekly via on-line site. I'd suggest you limit delivery to within about 30 miles to being with and charge a delivery fee that included some costs of fuel. I'd also suggest you team up with a local national grocery chain and be the middle-man who offers the service for them. You might be able to charge them on a per subscriber basis and charge customer for convenience and delivery.
grocery delivery
i must say i like this idea. but everything need to be duely considered before the idea is implemented. delivery orders should be placed via e-mail, sms or via a phone call to a situated central office. delivery staffs should be situated at all the grocery shops within their coverage area awaiting orders sent via an e-mail to their phones regularly to update them on what to buy and for whom.or they should team up with the stores, in this case they only need to gather up the orders and customer information then send it to the stores with full detail information regularly including time the goods are expected. this means that the stores will be responsible for the transportation here.
if the company wants to handle that part of the operation then it can charge the customers based on 2 things, the weight + the distance of the delivery per kilometer. deliverires can be made flexible within 30-30mins interval rotation.

Publix tried this in several
Publix tried this in several markets and found the costs where extremely higher then the income. Consider the price of gas going up and it certainly won't go to far down, it just doesn't appear to be economically sound.
Ouch - that's gotta hurt!
